Paula Hepner

Judge Hepner was appointed to the New York City Family Court in August 1990 by Mayor David N. Dinkins. In February 2008, Judge Hepner became Supervising Judge of Family Court in Kings County. During her judicial career, Judge Hepner was a founding member and Past President of the Association of Lesbian and Gay Judges, and a founding member and former Director of the International Association of Lesbian and Gay Judges and Co-Chaired NAWJ’s Committee on Racial, Cultural and Sexual Orientation Discrimination from 1997-1998 and Co-Chair of NAWJ’s First Committee on Sexual Orientation Discrimination from 1994-1996. Judge Hepner chaired the Juvenile Delinquency sub-committee of the NYC Family Court’s Advisory Council to the Administrative Judge from 2000-2003 and from 2004-2012 she chaired the sub-committee’s work group on LGBT Matters. Since her retirement in 2012, she has continued to serve on the Advisory Committee of The Equity Project and the Legal Advisory Board of the NYC Anti-Violence Project.
